I would bet that the UK prog bands Genesis & Pink Floyd
were listening to a whole lot of King Crimson in 1970/71
were listening to a whole lot of King Crimson in 1970/71
The influences are translucent - obvious
Hackett & Gilmour studying Fripp's austerity
Banks & Wright bathing in McDonald's mellow trons
Rutherford trying on Lake's beautiful bass lines
Collins & Mason absorbing Giles jazzy rhythms
and Gabriel/Waters ensconced in Sinfield's sad poetry
the human condition - ah - potential there
progressive rock in the late 70's was - well
fun
no questioning in my mind
50 years later ...
Selling England &
Dark Side of the Moon
was In the Court of the Crimson King
only 4 years later and expanded upon.
For me a treat to find bits & pieces
on-line and recreating it years later.
I started 2023 out with Goldfrapp
2024 - King Crimson.
