Nature doesn’t keep time - it’s random;
there is NO predicting which way any of this goes.
My second week at Spearmint, late Aug/92.
My 36th birthday a month away.
Alone (day 5), sun and clouds, mostly clouds but clearing.
Cool temps and VERY windy/coffee; maybe 12C thinking.
Weather fuck. Coat. I mean, it's frikkin' August man!
Grey, rain - since my arrival (my first semi-clear day).

I decided to walk out into the woods w/my recording gear mid morning guessing.
I didn’t have a watch and wasn’t sure - maybe 10?
My first real test of this expensive rental.
A portable Sony digital recorder and a brand new Calrec Ambisonic mic
from the friendly folks at Vistek on Queen E. in Toronto.
Setting up to capture the wind in the trees; battery? check.
Something musical here. Decent headphones - cool.
Recording and listening. Nice. Wow.
Sitting and leaning back against a tree pondering;
most of the world is at work right now, approaching lunch
in the office or the shop, dealing w/stress (office politics),
thinking about what they’ll have for dinner.
What shows they’re going to watch on TV tonight - the state of their relationships;
and I’m here in the middle of nowhere - looking straight up and absorbing everything …
Returning to the tent studio that afternoon and adding this in about an hour.
Listening to the wind and extending it … a new mix
.
good headphones after dark - it's a long-throw
and all very slow
