in June 1992
I received a grant to go to a fly in lake
50 km northeast of Chapleau Ontario
10 km hike to the nearest empty road - creepy
tent camp, bears around, alone, 17 days there
I had visited Spearmint in 1990
on a 3 day fishing trip with my brother Dave
and was fascinated by the 100' tall & elevated limestone basin
that the lake was situated in and the sound/echoes
when I sang a long note from the center of the lake thinking
oh man, I'd love to do an album here
fantasizing, planning
In August '92, I returned w/a whack of gear
and a rather loose agenda - my mission
to write & record an album of music
It was a blast

37 faces, 37 gravestones
fast forward
my fourth remix of Aurora now in 2025
dreaming of Norway this time
and what it would
be like
here at night
in northern Ontario
something happens in late August,
early September that can't be described
sleeping under it can be dangerous
but life changing
recommended listening: volume up,
good headphones after dark - it's a long-throw
and all very slow
